A 12-year-old boy from Charlotte has won Vermont’s geography bee by identifying Hungary as the country bordered by Ukraine and Croatia.

William Hodgson-Walker will represent Vermont in the National Geographic Bee next month in Washington, D.C. He’ll compete against 49 state-level winners, and winners from the District of Columbia, U.S. territories and U.S. Department of Defense Dependents schools.

Hodgson-Walker is a seventh-grader at Charlotte Central School.

The National Geographic Bee is a nationwide competition for students in fourth through eighth grades.
