Centennial Field in Burlington has seen a lot of baseball in its long history: the University of Vermont built the ballpark in 1904. In addition to college ball, Centennial has been the home of Vermont’s minor league franchises – previously the Vermont Expos, and currently the Vermont Lake Monsters.

But persistent problems with the ballpark have prompted Major League Baseball to demand upgrades to Centennial Field. And the demands have cast a shadow over the Lake Monsters’ future in Burlington.

VPR’s Mitch Wertlieb talked to the general manager of the Lake Monsters, CJ Knudsen, and got a first-hand look at some of the problems at the ballpark.
