The work clothes maker Carhartt is donating more than 18,000 clothing items to support post-Irene recovery efforts in Vermont.

The company is working with students at Lyndon State College to get the clothes to flood victims around the state.

Lyndon State College students are helping to distribute the clothing as part of the College’s annual Student Community Service Day. On Friday the 16th, 40 Lyndon freshmen gathered to sort and label clothing into bundles tagged by garment, gender, and size, and to load trailers for shipping.

The inventory includes men’s pants, jeans, coats, sweatshirts, and gloves; and women’s pants, jeans, coats, skirts, shirts, vests, sweatshirts and gloves.
