Canadian dollar on par with U.S.

It’s becoming a better deal for Canadians to shop in the United States, thanks to the growing strength of that nation’s dollar as compared to the U.S. greenback.

The Canadian dollar reached 1-to-1 parity against the U.S. dollar yesterday for the first time since November 1976.

That makes it the best deal in more than three decades for Canadians to come south and shop in the United States.

Canadian shoppers crossing into northern New England say they’re getting relatively great deals on items ranging from gasoline to clothing to milk.
