Bush registers for Vermont ballot

President Bush is formally a candidate for re-election in Vermont. His national campaign chairman, former Montana Governor Marc Racicot, filed the paperwork at the secretary of state’s office on Wednesday.

Racicot says the president is confident that he can win Vermont in the fall, even though he lost it in 2000. Racicot says there was no special reason why he personally filed the paperwork to get the president on Vermont’s primary election ballot. He says the fact that former Vermont Governor Howard Dean is the leading Democratic presidential contender had nothing to do with his coming to Vermont.
