(Host) Eight people were injured when a tour bus slid off of Interstate 89 in Highgate today and flipped on to its side.

State police say all but one of those injured was treated and released at Northwest Medical Center in St. Albans. One was admitted to the hospital for observation.

The bus was carrying 25 people from Montreal to Boston and had just crossed the Canadian border when it slid out of control in ice, snow and wind.

Southbound traffic had to be detoured for almost four hours while the injured were cared for and the bus was removed from the highway.

State police say the bus was traveling 45 to 50 miles per hour at the time of the accident.

A variety of police and rescue squads responded to the accident but initially had problems communicating with the bus passengers because most spoke Korean.

The bus driver was given a ticket for driving too fast for the conditions.
