A Burlington man is facing drunken driving charges after police say he pinned a pedestrian against a parked car while he was trying to park, causing serious injuries.

Police say 76-year-old Stan Sankowski made a wide turn while parking his vehicle in the Price Chopper parking lot on Shelburne Road on Monday afternoon, pinning the pedestrian between his vehicle and the pedestrian’s parked vehicle.

Authorities say the impact moved the victim’s vehicle forward about two feet.

The pedestrian, a 50-year-old Colchester resident, was in stable condition and was being treated for serious injuries.

Witnesses are asked to call Burlington police.

Sankowski has been cited to appear in court on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
