Former state representative, senator, Burlington city councilor and community activist George Little has died.

He was 87.

U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy says Little, who died Sunday, always put the interests of the community first.

Little owned the George Little Press and started the Vermont Printer’s Association with Leahy’s father.

He was involved in the creation of the Community Health Center, the Food Shelf, the McClure Multigenerational Center and the ECHO Center in Burlington.

Philanthropist Lois McClure called Little’s passing a sad day for Vermont.
