Senator Patrick Leahy and city leaders were in Burlington Friday to celebrate the expansion of Dealer.com, an online software company that provides global marketing solutions for the automotive industry.

On Friday, Dealer.com unveiled a 70,000-square-foot addition to its current downtown office space, nearly doubling its size. The expansion comes a year after the software company decided to stay in Vermont and double its work force. Dealer.com had considered moving its operations to California.

The new Burlington facility includes a number of features, including warehouse-style high ceilings, a theater, a yoga center and an onsite café that will serve locally-sourced organic foods.

Despite the recession, the company says it had a 60 percent revenue increase last year and it hopes to add 300 new employees in Vermont over the next few years.

Senator Leahy says that’s why he came to the opening.

(Leahy) "These are jobs, and it’s all about jobs. We have a tremendous workforce in Vermont. A lot of it requires training for this. They’re well educated, they’re healthy and they train well. And this gives them incentive to be here."
