Budget doesn’t include money for elections

Governor Douglas’ proposed budget doesn’t include money for something the state knew was coming — the November election.

It’ll cost 450-thousand dollars to print ballots, arrange for ballot bags and send out absentee forms, but the money wasn’t included in this year’s budget.

State officials want the Secretary of State’s office to use money from its budget for the election. And the state will reimburse the secretary of state’s office in next year’s budget adjustment.
