Brattleboro students to vote on mascot change

Students are scheduled to vote next month whether Brattleboro Union High School should retain the Colonel as its mascot. Principal James Day says the results of that non-binding vote will be forwarded to the school board. Critics of the mascot say it resembles a Southern plantation owner and is therefore racist.
