Today is the start of the lunar new year, as celebrated in China , Korea, Vietnam and other Asian Countries. It’s also celebrated wherever people from those countries live, and that includes Brattleboro. This coming Sunday the Asian Cultural Society of Vermont will host a New Year’s festival — complete with a 30,000-foot dancing Dragon from Vietnam and a Korean tug of war.

In preparation the Center’s co founders, Cai and Adam Silver, invited the public to help paint two large banners to hang on the wall during the festival. VPR’s Susan Keese joined the painting party.
