Brattleboro officials are may redefine what constitutes a home business. People who support the plan say it would relax the town requirements for some people who work out of their home.

The proposal calls for dividing home businesses into two types. One type would cover such occupations as sewing, crafts or an office. The work must be owned and carried out by a resident of the dwelling and couldn’t employ another person. The other type would require greater town review and would permit sales and employees who don’t live in the house.
