Democratic presidential front-runner Howard Dean got the backing of another prominent Democrat on Tuesday, gaining the endorsement of former senator and presidential candidate Bill Bradley.

Bradley was fervent in his support, telling a New Hampshire crowd that Dean’s candidacy is one of the “best things” to happen to American democracy in decades. He says that’s because Dean is engaging average voters.

The former basketball star was equally strong in his criticism of President Bush. Bradley called the Republican president a “radical,” who has ignored the poor and forgotten America’s neighbors.

Dean thanked Bradley for the endorsement and told the crowd he’s confident he and his supporters will take back the White House for the Democrats.
