Authorities have found the body of a woman thought to be Jodie Whitney, who disappeared after leaving her Johnson home last week. Lamoille County Sheriff Roger Marcoux said today there has been no official identification of the body, which was found a few miles from Whitney’s home. But he said officials are assuming the body is Whitney’s because there aren’t a lot of missing women in the area.
The sheriff says Whitney’s husband, Edgar Whitney, is a suspect. He was hospitalized at Fletcher Allen Health Care after trying to commit suicide with a drug overdose. Marcoux won’t say exactly where the body was found or how the woman died.
