Bill would allow NH kids to hunt in Vermont

Young New Hampshire deer hunters may soon be allowed to hunt in Vermont, resolving an interstate dispute over youth hunting seasons.

Until this year, Vermont kids could hunt in New Hampshire but most New Hampshire kids are still excluded from hunting in Vermont.

Last week the Vermont House passed a change to the law that would allow any licensed youth accompanied by an adult with a Vermont hunting license to participate in the state’s youth hunting weekend.

The move comes after New Hampshire changed its law last spring to restrict out-of-state youth hunters to those from states that give New Hampshire kids the same chance.

Vermont’s current law only allows out-of-state youth to hunt in Vermont if at least one of the hunter’s parents live in the state.
