Pro hockey is almost midway through its shortened season. The NBA is gearing up for post-season play, and in a "who ever thought we’d see this" kind of deal, the Boston Red Sox and NY Yankees are scrambling to fill holes in their lineups due to injuries to big-time stars, with expectations for both teams actually lower this year in the run-up to the 2013 Major League Baseball season.

But all that pales in comparison to the big playoff games on the horizon in Vermont college sports, with the biggest stages set in mens’ basketball.

VPR’s Mitch Wertlieb gets some perspective on these make or break games today from Andy Gardiner, a veteran journalist who’s covered sports for the Burlington Free Press and USA Today.
