Big Sky departure leaves North Country without essential air service

Some air travelers in New York’s North Country received the proverbial lump of coal in their Christmas stockings when Big Sky Air announced over the holidays that it would liquidate its assets nationwide.

That meant service would be dropped at a number of upstate New York airports, including Plattsburgh.

Kim Smith Dedam is a reporter for the Plattsburgh Press Republican and has been following the story. She says Big Sky Air hadn’t been in the region very long before announcing it would be pulling out for good:
