Officials in Berlin are slated to hold a joint meeting on a plan to build a new state psychiatric hospital in the town.

Both the select board and the school board will be at the session, set for 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Berlin Elementary School.

The meeting will include a presentation from state officials on the plan to build a 25-bed hospital as part of the plan to replace the former state hospital in Waterbury.

The old hospital was closed last August after it was flooded by Tropical Storm Irene.

Sites near the Central Vermont Medical Center and the state regional library are under review.

The meeting also will include questions and comments from the public.
