The Select Board in Bennington has approved a property swap with the Vermont National Guard.

The agreement will allow the town to acquire the Bennington armory if a new building is constructed for the local unit.

The Guard has been looking for a spot in Bennington County to build a new readiness center to replace the armory.

Bennington is offering a municipally-owned former industrial site in the center of town in exchange for the armory, which is located behind the town office
