Bennington College has received a $1million pledge for its science programs.

Alumna and philanthropist Judith Rosenberg Hoffberger of Aspen, Colorado, made the pledge to match a grant from a private New York foundation.

The school says some of the donation will be used on the college’s work with the Neurosciences Institute.

The institute, based in San Diego, California, researches brain functions, particularly perception, memory and learning.

The small liberal arts college has received several large donations in the last year including a $6.2 million gift from an anonymous alumna.
