The Bellows Falls police department is planning to install 16 security cameras around the village.

Bellows Falls Police Chief Keith Clark told village trustees he hopes to have the system operational by this summer.
Police are getting help paying for the system with a $98,000 federal grant.

The cameras would be installed at a variety of locations, including the police and fire station, pool and recreation area and the town hall.

The wireless system transmits images to the police station, where they would be monitored 24-hours-a-day.

The cameras would not record audio and the images would be saved for seven days.
