One candidate has dropped out of the race for mayor of Barre, and Governor Jim Douglas has endorsed one of the two remaining candidates.
Veteran city politician Conrad Estivill dropped out on Saturday. Later in the day, Douglas endorsed mayoral candidate Leo Valliere. Estivill says he’s supporting the campaign of the other candidate, Peter Anthony.
Valliere and Anthony are running to succeed retiring Mayor Harry Monti.
