A misspelled candidate’s name has forced the reprinting of all the ballots for Vermont’s most populous county.

Secretary of State Deborah Markowitz says Chittenden County ballots for the Nov. 4 election were marred by the typo.

Among the state Senate candidates are Democrat Denise Barnard and Republican Dennis Bedard. Bedard’s last name was misspelled Benard.

Officials thought there could be confusion between the two candidates, so it was decided the ballots needed to be reprinted.

Markowitz says she’s not sure how much the reprinting will cost.

She says the hope is to have the ballots out to city and town clerks by Monday, when early voting starts.
