Attorney says partial settlement near in tour boat deaths

An attorney for some plaintiffs suing over the 2005 tour boat capsizing on Lake George says he believes a partial settlement is near.

Lawyer E. Stewart Jones tells the Glens Falls Post-Star the settlement with Shoreline Cruises and with Scarano Boat Company, which modified Shoreline’s Ethan Allen tour boat, will be completed by the end of March. He declined to disclose terms.

Attorney James Hacker, lead counsel for plaintiffs, says the case is “still in delicate negotiations” with a couple of outstanding issues.

Jones says the case continues against two other defendants, including Shoreline Tours of Canada, which organized the tour of Midwestern tourists, 20 of whom died.
