Vermont arts organizations have been awarded over $600,000 in stimulus money. The 42 grants will be used to preserve jobs in the non-profit art sector that might be threatened by the economic downturn.

The largest grants went to Burlington City Arts, the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts, Marlboro College and the Yellow Barn in Putney.

Smaller organizations around the state received grants to support executive directors, office managers struggling with declining donations.

The grants were funded with money given to the National Endowment for the Arts and the Vermont Arts Council.
