Applications Available For Vermont Moose Permits

Moose hunting season is still eight months away, but the state Agency of Natural Resources says it’s not too early to start applying for those hard-to-get permits.

Last year, the state got 14,000 applications and only issued 1,225 permits in the annual moose permit lottery.

This year, the season starts Oct. 16 but the deadline for applications is June 1. The lottery will be held sometime in mid-July.

The state Department of Fish and Wildlife offers applications online. They cost $10 for residents and $25 residents, and anyone who ends up getting a permit must pay $100 or $350 if they’re not Vermonters.
