Former Phish frontman Trey Anastasio is considering a plea deal to settle drug possession charges filed against him in northern New York.

Lawyers say Anastasio’s case could wrap up tomorrow if he agrees to plead to a reduced drug possession charge.

Under the deal, the 42-year-old guitarist would avoid jail time but be placed under strict court supervision.

Police in Whitehall, near the Vermont border arrested Anastasio on December 15th after he was pulled over for swerving while driving through the village. He was charged with a seven-count indictment that includes a felony charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

A lawyer’s conference was held earlier this week in Washington County court. Anastasio was not present.

His lawyer said he would discuss the offer with Anastasio.
