A Vermont Air National Guard member is vying to be the only female athlete on a team of soldiers competing in a military skills competition.

Twenty-eight-year-old Airman First Class Ziven Drake, of Burlington, hopes to travel to Warsaw, Poland next week for the Confederation of Inter Allied Officers of the Reserve military competition.

Drake is a F-16 crew chief for the Vermont Air National Guard. She’ll compete today in the final obstacle course at Camp Johnson.

Guard officials say Drake will be up against four male athletes who are new to the competition and one experienced athlete.
