Two towns in the Addison Northwest Supervisory union will be headed to the polls next month to vote again on a proposal to form a unified union school district.

On Town Meeting Day, two-thirds of the voters in the five towns that comprise Addison Northwest said yes to creating one 12-member school board. It would be responsible for governing the union’s three elementary schools and one high school.

But petitions have been filed to revote the proposal in Addison and Vergennes. So voters will be headed to the polls on May 17th to weigh-in again.

Voters also approved the unified union last year. But voters in the town of Addison overturned the decision in a second vote.
