Three days after abortion foes staged a rally at the Statehouse, pro-choice legislators joined with abortion rights supporters yesterday in hailing the 35th anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision that legalized the procedure.

Emily Blistein of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England says with the Bush administration’s hostility toward reproductive freedom, it’s important for states like Vermont to support women’s right to choose.

The comments came on the actual anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

On Saturday, about 280 people opposed to abortion marched on the Statehouse in a “rally for life” to express their views on the issue.
