An $8.5 million dollar jobs bill has advanced in the Vermont House.

The bill directs how Vermont will spend the remaining money from last year’s federal economic stimulus law.

It calls for more than $3.1 million to be spent on expanding broadband computer access.

Nearly $2.5 million would go to a variety of jobs programs.

And money also would go to help farmers, and to help businesses that were hurt when the Champlain Bridge between Addison and Crown Point, New York closed.
