62 N.J. students busted at drinking party offered diversion

The New Jersey high school students cited after police busted a large underage drinking party in Dover over the weekend will be offered a chance to enter a court diversion program.

And the 62 students will be able to participate in the program from New Jersey.

Over the weekend police rounded up 110 teenagers from Randolph, N.J., at a weekend party at three rental houses and cited 62 for underage possession of a malt beverage.

Police also seized 18 kegs of beer.

Students who participate in the diversion program must pay a $150 fine, complete 10 hours of community service, see a licensed alcohol and drug counselor and get an alcohol and drug assessment.
