Fifteen of New Hampshire’s 17 major department heads have been appointed by Gov. John Lynch.

New Hampshire’s department chiefs are appointed generally to four-year terms – longer than the two-year terms of the state’s governors. Over his two terms, Lynch has slowly left his mark on the top offices. Lynch says he doesn’t want them to make change for the sake of change but to figure out how best to serve the people’s needs.

Lynch says he does want his department heads to look for innovative ways to run the state.
