Authorities say a 10-year-old child was hospitalized after being accidentally shot by a teenager.
Barre police say the boy was shot in the hand and face with a 12-gauge shotgun while lying in bed Saturday night in Upper Graniteville, outside Montpelier. The boy was taken to Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, where he is in stable condition.
Police say a 14-year-old boy shot him. He has told police he was checking the gun to make sure it wasn’t loaded.
Neither boys’ name has been released. Police say the investigation is continuing and no charges have been filed.
