Two years ago Governor Douglas outlined a goal of providing
broadband service to every Vermonter by the end of 2010.  New poll numbers from UVM’s Center for Rural
Studies show at least 35% of households still don’t have access.

We talk with Bill Shuttleworth, the Executive
Director of the Vermont Telecommunications Authority, about the effort to
connect every Vermont household
to broadband.  We also look
into how our state’s deep digital divide impacts the economy with Al Duey from
the Vermont Rural Broadband Project. (Listen)

Also in the program, our series on backyard farming continues. Earlier in the week,
we learned about raising pigs, next we explore the extraordinary
diversity and personality of chickens in a visit to Jennifer Megyesi’s
South Royalton farm. (Listen)
