Do you wear Darn Tough socks?  How about clothing made by Isis
or Ibex?  Do you cruise down the slopes
on a Rome or Burton
snowboard?  If so, then you’ve
contributed to Vermont’s
longstanding outdoors industry.  We talk
about how the industry is growing, how the Vermont
brand is regarded nationally, and what business challenges companies face.

We look at the big picture with Amy Rogers, of
the national Outdoor Industry Association, and Kevin Dorn, Vermont’s
Secretary of the Agency of Commerce and Community Development.  And then we hear the individual experiences
of Vermont companies from Ric Cabot at Darn Tough, Ted McGuinness at TSL Snowshoes,
Rob Scharges with Vermont Canoe, and John Fernsell at Ibex.

Also, Kate Messner teaches seventh grade English in Plattsburgh,
NY, and writes books for young adults.  We talk with her about her newest book, The
Brilliant Fall of Gianna Z.
