The Vermont Yankee nuclear plant hopes to renew its license
for an extra 20 years, but first it has to win approvals, not only from the
federal government, but in Vermont. The plant’s favorable price
arrangement has saved Vermonters
millions in energy costs, but will it continue to be reliable and safe for another 20 years?
We look at some of the issues likely to impact upcoming decisions by the
Vermont Public Service Board and the State Legislature. Our guests are Montpelier
Rep. Tony Klein, who currently chairs the House Natural Resources and Energy
Committee, and Richard Smith, Deputy Commissioner of the Vermont Department of
Public Service.(Listen)

Also on the program, Vermont Edition Host Jane Lindholm
reports on a Vermont secessionist group that’s come under fire for its ties to
an alleged hate group. (Listen)

And we drop in on the Marlboro Music Festival and
School, where some of the world’s most promising, and most venerated musicians
gather each summer to work, play and revel in the repertoire they love. (Listen)
