It’s one of the big questions
science has yet to answer: whether there is intelligent life somewhere out
there, on another planet in the universe. Astrobiology is the science and study
of that question. And it’s something that fascinates John O’Meara, an associate
professor of astronomy and physics at St. Michael’s College. We talk to him about
the science of finding other planets, and the search for the potential of life anywhere
but Earth.

Also on the program, smart
grid is a concept that has been gaining traction and attention in the field of
electric utilities. Now, the University of Vermont is announcing a multi-disciplinary program in smart grid. We talk to
Jeff Marshall, a professor in UVM’s School of Engineering, who is close to this new initiative.
