Community College of Vermont, like similar two-year institutions across the country, has seen a dramatic increase in enrollment and in the type of student signing up for classes.  An influx of younger students who are bound for four year colleges after CCV has led to some curriculum and other changes.  We talk with newly appointed  president Joyce Judy about how CCV is responding to these new demands. If you’ve got comments or questions about CCV, email vermontedition@vpr.net.

Also, Candace Page of the Burlington Free Press sets out to learn to identify frog calls, all for a good cause:  The North American Amphibian Monitoring Program’s annual frog census. To volunteer for the project contact Candace Page at cpage@burlingtonfreepress.com.

Finally, VPR’s Ric Cengeri takes us to the State Scholastic Chess Championship.  It’s more exciting than it sounds!
