Vermont’s
waterways are home to more than 1200 small dams, and many of them date back
centuries.  But in recent years, as our
attitudes about river management have changed, more and more of these dams are
being removed.  We learn more about these
removal efforts, and about how dams have impacted animal and plant
habitats.  Our guests include David Deen,
the chair of Vermont’s Dam Task Force, and Brian Fitzgerald, an ecologist and the

Streamflow Protection Coordinator for
the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources. Listen

Also, Mark Nash, director of Vermont Stage Company, announced
June 1st that he is stepping down after the 2010-2011 season.  He’s spent 10 years running the year-round,
professional theater company based at FlynnSpace, a black-box theater in Burlington.  VPR’s Jane Lindholm talks with Nash about his time there, and
his decision to step down. Listen
