Progressive Party Faces Challenges

Progressive Party has had some challenges this year. It lost the Burlington
mayor’s office for only the second time in 30 years. And it’s involved in a
nail-biter over who its candidate for governor should be after a write-in
candidate tried to take the nomination.

Middlebury College
associate professor of political science Bert Johnson and Progressive Party
Chairwoman Martha Abbott look at the party and where it fits into Vermont’s
political landscape.

Also on the program, CBC Quebec Political Reporter Tim
Duboyce recaps the provincial election held Tuesday.
He explains the issues that had the most impact of voters and which party will
be in power in Quebec City after
the votes are counted.

And a year ago, the students at Moretown
Elementary School began the school
year by taking field trips because of the damage to the building caused by
Tropical Storm Irene. We check back in with Principal Duane Pierson to see how
the school, students and staff have rebounded.
