It was Memorial Day when Central Vermont Public Service agreed to be purchased by the Canadian company, Fortis, Inc. Within weeks, Green Mountain Power’s owner Gaz Metro joined the fray with a counter-offer. On Tuesday, CVPS reversed course and accepted Gaz Metro’s bid for the company.

Public Service Commissioner Elizabeth Miller, Richard Sedano, principal of the Regulatory Assistance Project and State Senator Kevin Mullin discuss the next steps in the process, what considerations the board will take into account and what obstacles the utilities might face in gaining approval of the sale.
