Leahy Pushes Renewal Of Violence Against Women Act

As chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Patrick Leahy is using his authority to hold hearings into the misconduct of Secret Service agents on a recent presidential trip to Colombia. Vermont’s senior senator is also leading the effort to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act, backing an amendment that would focus on domestic violence and rates of violence against teens. Bob Kinzel discusses these and other issues before the U.S. Senate with Sen. Leahy, Friday on Vermont Edition.

Also in the program, the political fight over $21 million and who should decide whether and how it is rebated to electric customers. The issue has crossed from the Public Service Board, to the governor’s office, to the Legislature.
