How “Green” Is Biomass?

How green a technology is biomass?  Is burning wood for energy more efficient
than coal?  And can our forests support
wide-scale biomass projects?  A recent study
done by the Manomet Center
for Conservation Sciences reports that there are complex and definite considerations
and trade-offs when using wood for energy. 
We explore the pros and cons of the technology with Tom Walker, the
study’s team leader and an Independent Resource Economist, and we also hear
from Chris Recchia, the Executive Director of the Montpelier-based Biomass
Energy Resource Center. Listen
