We’ve all heard stories about "helicopter parents" who hover over their children, micromanaging every moment of their lives. But a new book examines how widespread this phenomenon is across social classes, and looks at whether hyper-vigilant parenting is hurting our kids. Wednesday on Vermont Edition, Middlebury College sociology professor Margaret K. Nelson joins us to explain what she’s discovered from parents all over the country in her book, Parenting Out of Control: Anxious Parents in Uncertain Times. Listen
