Imagine reaching an age when you’re just about ready to retire and suddenly finding yourself raising young children – your children’s children. Experts say as many as 6,000 Vermont children are being raised by relatives, most commonly grandparents. Our guest Lynn Granger is the coordinator for Vermont Kin as Parents, a grass roots network of "kinship families" who come together for support. Also on the program is Brenda Hamlin of Essex. She and her husband are raising a niece and three grandchildren, as well as their teenage daughter. Listen

Also on the program, New York state is celebrating two Quadricentennials this year. Tom Lewis, the author of The Hudson: A History, talks about the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s voyage up the Hudson to Albany. Listen
