Food can sometimes ease the transition of immigrants to a new country.  And cooking traditional meals can connect generations of families to their heritage.  Chef, teacher and author Lynne Christy Anderson joins us on Vermont Edition to offer the memories and recipes she’s collected in her new book, "Breaking Bread: Recipes and Stories from Immigrant Kitchens." Plus we hear from some new Vermonters about their culinary heritage. Listen

Plus, Circus Smirkus has been teaching young people about life under the big top for more than two decades.  The traveling youth circus based in Greensboro wraps up its 2010 season on August 15th.  This year, three of the clowns entertaining the crowd are girls.  But, as Vermont Edition host Jane Lindholm discovered, professional clowning is still very much a male-dominated profession.
