This week, VPR commissioned the a thorough statewide poll of how Vermonters feel about the candidates and issues of this election season. Friday on Vermont Edition, we examine some of the results. We’ll learn about who’s leading the governor’s race and other statewide races, and what issues voters say are motivating them to support certain candidates. Our guests are Chris Graff, who served as the longtime Vermont bureau chief for the Associated Press, and Brad Coker of Mason-Dixon Polling and Research, which conducted the poll of 625 likely voters in Vermont.

Also in the program, Saturday is the 230th anniversary of the Royalton Raid, the first major Revolutionary War raid east of the Green Mountains. Historian Neil Goodwin explains how this raid encapsulated the key issues in the war.
He has written, "We Go as Captives," which was just published by the Vermont Historical Society. A commemoration of the raid will be held on Saturday, October 16 from 2-3 p.m. on the South Royalton green. In case of rain, the event will be moved to Vermont Law School.
