A wind power developer in Georgia has dropped a court order against property owners who
moved within a safety zone as construction work was scheduled to start.
Six anti-wind protesters went on trial in Newport on Wednesday. The so-called "Lowell six" are charged with criminal trespassing last
December on land leased to Green Mountain Power for the construction of wind
turbines on Lowell Mountain.
Vermont utility
regulators say a wind power developer can re-apply for a permit to build an
industrial scale wind turbine on a hilltop not far from the Canadian border in
Derby Line.
In
the town of Derby, right near the Canadian border, that debate over wind power has
spilled over into angry words, allegations of slander and defamation, and a
possible lawsuit.
